Liverpool have been dealt a significant injury blow as Diogo Jota has been ruled out of the upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton due to a hip injury sustained in the Reds' 3-1 win over Fulham.

Jota, who had just returned from a two-month absence and netted Liverpool's third goal to secure the victory on Sunday, will be sidelined once again, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed. The Liverpool manager revealed that Jota is expected to miss approximately two weeks of action.

This timeline puts Jota out not only for the clash at Goodison Park but also for Liverpool's match against West Ham United on Saturday, with his participation in doubt for the home game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, May 5.

"Unfortunately, yes. Diogo," Klopp responded when questioned about any fresh injury concerns. "Scored the goal, felt a little bit, and now we found out it's a little bit more.

"He will be out for two weeks. Besides that, no (other new injuries. I cannot really say a lot about it, to be honest. Before the game, he didn't start, he got a knock. Normal challenge, bam, and felt a little bit in the hip. And that was then fine.

"We didn't start him, brought him on and that was alright. And then he started the last game. Was obviously okay but then with the finish.

"It's a small one but we are late in the season. Obviously, it's now not a great moment for each injury pretty much. It's not a big one. It's two weeks. Pretty much nothing but enough to not be available."

Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League, behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference.
