The family of Daniel Anjorin, 14, who was killed in Hainault, east London, on his way to school have paid a heartbreaking tribute following his death - they say they have lost the 'most loved and amazing son'

The heartbroken family of teenager Daniel Anjorin have paid an emotional tribute to their "most loved and amazing son".

The 14-year-old was murdered on his way to school in Hainault, east London, on Tuesday, during a frightening sword rampage in broad daylight. Four other people sustained injuries during the horrific attack. Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a dual Spanish-Brazilian national living in Newham, was charged with murder following the attack and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Daniel's family addressed the "unthinkable incident" and described the schoolboy as "loving and precious". They issued an updated statement through Met Police and said: “We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel. It is difficult for us at this time to process what has happened to him and that he will never come home. Daniel had left the house for school and then he was gone.

“Our children have lost their loving and precious brother and we have lost the most loved and amazing son. We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident. We would also like to thank the local community for all of their support during this most difficult time. We ask that the media please respect our privacy and refrain from contacting us or our family.”

On Saturday, Arsenal led a tribute to their supporter, which saw dozens of fans honour his memory ahead of the game against Bournemouth. The club showed his picture on the big screens before their Premier League game in the afternoon. During the match there was also a moving moment of applause throughout the Emirates Stadium in the 14th minute, with a banner reading “RIP Daniel” among the crowd.

Arsenal were given permission to pay tribute at their game. It comes after they previously issued a statement on Daniel's death and said: "We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week. With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off tomorrow. We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us in this moment."

Staff and pupils at Bancroft’s, an independent school, described the sweet boy as a "core member of our community". A statement said: “We are devastated by the heartbreaking news of the death of Daniel Anjorin, who attended our school. This has left us in profound shock and sorrow.

“Daniel joined Bancroft’s at seven years old and quickly became a core member of our community. He was a true scholar, demonstrating commendable dedication to his academic pursuits. His positive nature and gentle character will leave a lasting impact on us.”
