Oasis' Liam Gallagher has congratulated Coventry City FC for their courageous fightback against Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup. Thousands of Sky Blues fans flocked to Wembley Stadium on Sunday (April 21).

Coventry City were inches away from producing one of the greatest FA Cup comebacks in history against Manchester United. After coming back from 3-0 down to take the game into extra-time, Mark Robins' side thought they had won the tie in injury time, as reported by Andy Turner.

A last-minute VAR decision denied the Sky Blues a sensational victory over the Red Devils. It meant the match went to a penalty shoot-out, which United won 4-2, meaning they will now be taking on Manchester City in a bid to secure the FA Cup.

Gallagher has been vocal about his hatred of the Red Devils, previously saying that he 'could not see Manchester United beating Coventry.' He is known for being an avid supporter of Manchester City and has often been seen cheering them on at the Etihad Stadium.

He issued an eight-word statement in which he described Manchester United as 'chumps.' In a post shared on X, the 51-year-old said: “Congrats to Coventry rattled those chumps to ras.”

When asked what he planned to do for the rest of Sunday, Gallagher responded: “To laugh at my Man Utd fan boys embarrassing.”

Supporters were left devastated after the Sky Blues narrowly missed out in the thrilling clash at Wembley. Among them was Big Brother star Dylan Tennant who said he thought Coventry City had been 'robbed.'

Singer Tom Grennan said they should 'be proud' of what they had achieved at Wembley. He posted: “COVENTRY F***** CITY! Be proud, everyone in world football is talking about the Sky Blues again. Mark Robins is an absolute G.”

Manager Mark Robins spoke of his immense pride after seeing Coventry City go 'toe-to-toe' with Manchester United, in which the Sky Blues missed out, he said, by a 'toenail.' Robins said that he 'went through a whole range of emotions' but was 'proud of everything they have done.'
