A shock update on the unprecedented post from Nottingham Forest following the defeat to Everton has emerged as the storm continues.

Forest lost 2-0 to the Toffees in a huge game at the bottom of the Premier League title but the East Midlands club caused a serious stir with a statement posted on X after the game.

On their official account, the club fumed over three penalty incidents involving Ashley Young and questioned the integrity of VAR official Stuart Attwell, who they claim is a supporter of relegation rivals Luton Town.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville didn't hold back with their assessments on Sky Sports, leading to Forest "considering legal action".

The FA said they would be investigating and the Premier League expressed their disappointment.

The controversial post is said to have been pushed by the club's owners and further information has come to light.

According to Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports, Forest chiefs wanted to send the post at half-time after seeing Young and Everton get let off the hook.

A media officer was able to talk them down and stop it from happening but then all hell broke loose after the loss.

In a second statement, Forest then made a formal request for PGMOL to release the audio for the three penalty incidents in question.

In response, PGMOL have confirmed the request will be met, stating: "While PGMOL are unhappy with Forest's conduct in seemingly questioning the integrity of Attwell they will comply with the club's request for the audio of his conversations with Taylor, as they would with any club."

It's unlikely that the audio will be released to the public anytime soon - which is what happened with Luis Diaz's wrongly disallowed goal for Liverpool against Spurs.

A third statement from Forest called for "greater transparency around the PGMOL".

Sitting 17th in the league, Forest host champions Manchester City on Sunday at the City Ground.
