Luis Suarez has said Lionel Messi did something for Inter Miami last night that he’s never seen before from his attacking teammate.

The former PSG and FC Barcelona forward again enjoyed a record-breaking night in MLS as Messi became the first player in the league’s history to bag five assists in a single game, with the Argentine also scoring in a 6-2 win against the New York Red Bulls.

With Suarez bagging a hat-trick, it was a stellar performance from Inter Miami and one that Tata Martino loved, who post-match chose who he thought was better between the striker and Messi.

Yet the Uruguay international has now said he saw Messi do something he’s never seen before.

Suarez in awe of Messi’s creative performance for Inter Miami

Speaking to the Miami Herald, Suarez revealed his awe for Messi and his creative performance for Inter Miami, with the striker admitting that what happened is something that has never been seen by him or by anyone in the sport.

Indeed, Messi is no stranger to doing the unthinkable, yet the forward showed last night that even at 36, the Argentine is doing things on the soccer field that is even surprising one of his longest teammates in Suarez.

Suarez said: “What we saw tonight is surprising because it hasn’t been seen before in our sport, but as a teammate and knowing Leo, nothing surprises me because that’s the quality player he is.

“On the field it’s a different feeling having him as a teammate because we know each other so well, sometimes without even looking at each other. That was another plus we had tonight on a great night.”

Messi is already defying all logic in MLS with the Herons

Leading the goalscoring and assist charts after just 12 matchweeks in MLS, Messi is already defying all logic most fans and pundits had set for the veteran attacker with Inter Miami this season.

Yet breaking all realms of possibility is something Messi has been doing his entire career, with the attacker now shattering every record out there in MLS with Inter Miami.

There’s no telling how far Messi will go with the Herons, yet after performances like last night, the 36-year-old can take Inter Miami as far as they’ve ever gone before in MLS with the right results.
