'Let him explode' - Chelsea told why Nicolas Jackson has forced transfer rethink

Chelsea have been told why the recent form of Nicolas Jackson means the club do not need to sign a new striker.

Jackson has been enjoying his first season with the Blues, scoring 16 goals in all competitions including 13 in the Premier League. The striker moved to Stamford Bridge last summer in a £30 million deal from Villarreal.

Despite signing Jackson less than 12 months ago, Chelsea have already been linked with potentially adding another striker to their squad in the transfer market. Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Newcastle forward Alexander Isak have been linked with a move to the Blues in recent months, with both being tipped to join new clubs this summer.

However, Chelsea have been told by Emmanuel Petit why they do not need to sign either Osimhen or Isak. Petit has argued that the form of Jackson this season means that the Blues do not need to bring in a new striker when the transfer window reopens.

"Chelsea do not need [Victor] Osimhen or [Alexander] Isak," Petit told Grosvenor Sport. "We all know about the No.9 curse at Chelsea and in the last couple of months, we’ve seen what [Nicolas] Jackson can do.

"There’s no need to put more pressure on him by signing someone like Isak on his back. You need competition in every position, but when you have someone like Jackson starting to emerge, don’t put pressure on him and let him explode.

"For me, if I’m Chelsea, I'm not buying Isak as Jackson is already beginning to flourish."

Jackson has scored three goals across the last two games in the victories over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that Jackson continues that run of form in the final three Premier League fixtures of the season, as Chelsea look to secure European qualification.
