QPR injury news with three players absent for Championship match against Leeds United

The latest injury round-up at Queens Park Rangers before Leeds United's Championship trip to Loftus Road

QPR are expected to be without three long-term absentees for their Championship showdown with Leeds United at Loftus Road on Friday night (8pm). Michael Frey, Taylor Richards and Rayan Kolli are the players still on the mend as Marti Cifuentes plots a way to try and overcome QPR's promotion-chasing opponents.

Richards, who counts Manchester City and Brighton as his former clubs, has totted-up only 144 minutes so far this season after suffering one or two setbacks. His latest injury was a calf problem and the 23-year-old has not made a first-team matchday squad since December 13, which was a goalless draw vs Plymouth Argyle.

As for Frey, meanwhile, the January recruit made nine appearances for QPR before injury struck this month. The ex-Schalke and Royal Antwerp forward, 29, has missed their last four games.

Academy graduate Kolli is also working his way back to fitness. The 19-year-old and Frey could return before QPR's season-finale with Coventry City on Saturday, May 4, but the Leeds match is expected to come too soon for them.

Speaking to QPR media ahead of facing Leeds, defender Jake Clarke-Salter said: "Saturday [against Preston] was a massive win for us. It's obviously been a really difficult season but, since the manager [Cifuentes] came in, we have shown real unity and togetherness.

"We have two massive games now and can't take anything for granted. We need to show focus."

Relegation-threatened QPR are four points above the drop zone heading into their final two games. They ended a four match winless run with victory over Preston North End last time out with Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and rock-bottom Rotherham United occupying the bottom three positions.
