Shock moment ex-Rangers star sent off for swinging PUNCH at opponent after making history with latest wondergoal

FASHION SAKALA had a day to remember as he made history with his latest goal in Saudi Arabia - before he was shown a RED CARD for a wild moment on the pitch.

The ex-Rangers star, 27, left Glasgow to move to the Middle East last summer and he hit the ground running in the Pro League, scoring three goals in his first four games.

The former Ibrox fan favourite is now on 14 goals for the season and broke a long-standing record with his latest strike.

He stunned the hosts Al-Nassr with his stunning early goal as he opened the scoring after just six minutes but his side crashed to a 3-1 defeat in the second half.

It was still an unforgettable moment for Sakala in the first half as he became the first player in Al-Fayha's history to score 14 goals in the top flight a single season.

But while it should have been a night to remember for all the right reasons, his performance was marred by a shocking incident late on in the clash.

Sakala was shown a red card in the 88th minute after he lost his cool and seemingly threw a punch at one of his opponents with just minutes left to play before full-time.

He could be seen facing off with Al-Nassr's Abdullah Al-Khaibari following a challenge and had to be pulled away from his rival by the referee.

But as he moved away from the midfielder, opposition forward Otavio squared up to Sakala, sparking a shocking reaction from the former Light Blues star.

Otavio's team-mate Meshari Al-Nemer also got involved but it was the former Porto player who was on the receiving end of the incident as Sakala raised his hands and attacked the player.

It left the referee with no choice but to give the Zambian forward a red card.

He was given his marching orders and sent down the tunnel for an early bath.

It was a nightmare end for the striker and the match finished 3-1 following a second half collapse from the visitors.

Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't involved in the clash as he was ruled out through suspension following a similar incident after he elbowed Al-Hilal star Ali Al-Bulayhi  in the Saudi Super Cup earlier this month.

But they didn't need him in the end as defender Abdulelah Al-Amri levelled the scoring on the 72nd minute before ex-Liverpool star Sadio Mane netted a quickfire double on the 82nd minute following his first goal six minutes earlier.
