Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has now issued a message to Harry Kane after his latest goal in the Champions League.

It was another positive night in Europe’s elite competition for the Tottenham record goalscorer as he found the back of the net from the spot.

Harry Kane went into the game having scored in the quarter finals against Arsenal to knock his old rivals out of the competition.

But he and his Bayern Munich side faced perhaps the toughest challenge of them all in playing Real Madrid in the semi finals.

However, Bayern were able to come from behind to take a 2-1 lead in the second half which was provided by a brilliant Kane penalty.

The Bundesliga giants had to settle for a draw in the end but former Spurs defender Vertonghen took to social media to share his thoughts on Kane.

Jan Vertonghen left in awe of what he seen from Harry Kane on Tuesday night

It is now four years since the Belgian defender departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after eight years in north London.

During that time, Vertonghen was able to rack up a staggering 315 appearances for the Lilywhites and the majority of those will have come with Kane in the side.

The Belgian will have had a front row seat in seeing the development of the Spurs academy graduate after he was given his opportunity by Tim Sherwood in the early stages of Vertonghen’s time.

And it is apparent that Vertonghen has not forgotten his Tottenham roots as he continues to cheer on his former club and teammates.

Ange Postecoglou saw the club’s record goalscorer depart just weeks after he took on the role in north London.

And how the Australian could have done with a player of Kane’s calibre up top this season with the England captain continuing to impress on the continent.

The goal on Tuesday night marked his 43rd of the season having now played 43 times across all competitions.

After he netted against Madrid on Tuesday night, Vertonghen took to social media platform X to simply say, “H” accompanied by the heart eyes emoji.

What Jude Bellingham did to Harry Kane before the penalty

As all Tottenham fans will know, Kane is ice cool from the penalty spot and last night proved no different.

With the opportunity to put Bayern ahead, his England teammate Jude Bellingham was seemingly trying to get in his head before he took the spot kick.
