Salford City head coach Karl Robinson remained level-headed in defeat following his side’s 2-1 loss against Bradford City.

Speaking to the press after the game, Robinson first expressed his “relief that the side is mathematically safe” before commenting on the future of the squad next season.

Robinson has consistently foreshadowed widespread change in the summer window, but his description of the current Salford team as “good people that have underachieved” felt condemning for many of his players.

Robinson commented: “We can’t moan about next season if we don’t do something about it now.

“The inconsistency in our performances, the lack of clean sheets, the lack of winning duels and the lack of opportunities and chances created and taken (has been concerning).

“The players are generally good lads I respect them all, but I think we are a little bit below what we expect.”

The Ammies Boss noted that “this is not the team I’d want to watch every week”

Salford City’s 2-1 loss flattered Robinson’s side, Bradford could have, and probably should have, been out of site by the end of the first half.

The team struggled to deal with the energy of Bradford forward Calum Kavanagh who ran the defence ragged and created numerous big chances that were squandered by The Bantams.

“We are where we are in the league, the league Two table does not lie, we deserved to lose today could have been 3-0 down at halftime.”

Since joining the club in January, Robinson has had his sights set on the transfer window. With the right backing, he hopes that the side can be much improved next season and be battling at the right end of the table.

For the moment, Salford City have two remaining games to play this season. The Ammies will travel to Wales to face Newport County this Saturday. Kick-off is at 3pm.
