Official: Former Orlando Pirates midfielder leads Magesi FC to Premier Soccer League promotion

Clinton Larsen's National First Division side have secured promotion to the top-flight after defeating Milford FC on Sunday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Magesi clinched a historic promotion by defeating the KZN-based team 3-1 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. 

This victory propelled them to an eight-point lead at the summit of the NFD standings with just two matches remaining in the season.

Under the guidance of coach Larsen, the team have been embarking on their second successive season in the NFD, having earned promotion from the ABC Motsepe League in 2022. 

Their swift ascent will now place them among the elite in the PSL, where they will strive to forge a legacy of success for the club.

University of Pretoria

In another intriguing showdown, second-placed University of Pretoria couldn't secure maximum points, settling for a 2-2 draw with Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium. 

The Pretoria team have amassed 47 points from 28 matches, while the table-topping Magesi stand at 55 points.

The leaders have two league games left in the season, where they will be aiming to finish strong.

Their upcoming match is set against Casric Stars on Sunday, May 12th, followed by their last game in the National First Division against Venda on Sunday, May 19th.
