There are so many talented young centre-halves coming through at the moment.

William Saliba and Ibrahima Konate are already well on their way to the top, while Pau Cubarsi looks to be a future star at Barcelona.

Having a quality centre-back in your side is more important than ever, and these talents are always in high demand.

Liverpool have been linked with a number of new defenders in recent months including Lille’s Leny Yoro, and according to Rio Ferdinand, writing in a Q and A session on Reddit, the French defender is someone who could go to the very top.

Leny Yoro could go to the top

Ferdinand spoke about players who he feels are similar to himself in terms of style.

“There are similarities in the way Van Dijk plays. Saliba now as well the way he plays there’s the way they’re kind of just kind of calmness under pressure. Don’t ever really seem fazed. They’re good at covering, yeah so some similar traits. Because a young boy at Lille, Leny Yoro He’s going to be one of the best centre backs about as well.  I’ve seen similar traits. He’s going to be a top defender,” Ferdinand wrote.

Imagine Yoro and Van Dijk

Liverpool have struggled to find the right partner for Virgil van Dijk this season.

Jarell Quansah remains a tad too unproven, while Ibrahima Konate is inconsistent to say the least.

Yoro could be the answer here.

As the pundit says, this is a young man who has the world at his feet, and if he has similar traits to a prime Rio Ferdinand, he will be a star in the Premier League in no time at all.

Rated as a £78m player, Yoro wouldn’t be cheap, but these days, you have to pay big bucks if you want to sign the best young stars.
