One Arsenal star seems to have caught Barcelona’s eye ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners have a pretty frustrating relationship with Barcelona. We lost some of our brilliant players to them when Arsene Wenger was at the helm.

From Marc Overmars and Giovanni van Bronckhorst to Thierry Henry, Alexander Hleb and Cesc Fabregas, there have been a few top-class players who have switched North London for the Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s financial struggles in recent years mean they are no longer a threat when it comes to taking our players, but the Catalans are still dreaming.

One report from Spain has now claimed that Barca have added an Arsenal player’s name to their transfer wish list ahead of this summer.

Barcelona are considering Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli but there’s a problem

Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli from Brazilian side Ituano for just £6 million in 2019.

The Brazilian became an instant hit at the Emirates Stadium. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists in all competitions in his debut season, which is an amazing return considering he was still a teenager.

Martinelli has developed into an absolute superstar over the years, and even though he hasn’t quite been at his usual level this season, he is still one of our most important players.

Mundo Deportivo have shed some light on Barcelona’s transfer plans for this summer’s transfer window.

The Catalan giants are on the market for a new left winger, and they have been linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Athletic Bilbaio’s Nico Williams, who is also a target for Arsenal, are said to be on Barcelona’s shortlist.

Another name there, albeit an ambitious one, is Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli, claims the report.

However, the problem for Barcelona is that the Brazilian is under contract until the summer of 2027, which is why he has been described as a ‘forbidden dream’ for the Camp Nou club.

Football is a funny game and anything can happen, but we are extremely confident that Martinelli will not leave Arsenal this summer.

Gabriel Martinelli has a big reason to snub Barcelona

Gabriel Martinelli, on his day, is one of the best players in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old is rapid, explosive, an excellent dribbler, and when he’s given a little bit of space, he can be unstoppable – just ask Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Martinelli has dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal recently. He hasn’t started a game in the Premier League for nearly two months.

That’s probably why Barcelona are dreaming of signing him, but the Catalans once snubbed him before, and we feel that’s enough reason for Martinelli to turn his back on them if they come calling.

Speaking on The Players’ Tribune, Martinelli revealed how Barcelona didn’t want him after he was called on trial for 15 days there.

He said: “I went to La Masia in Barcelona. I practised with Ansu Fati when I went there. We became friends and I stayed there for 15 days.

“Then it didn’t work out either, they didn’t want me. But four or five months later Arsenal signed me.”
