Arsenal will be aiming to build on successive London Derby victories when they face Bournemouth this weekend.
The Gunners currently sit a point above Manchester City in the Premier League and will likely have to be flawless in their final three games to pick up the title.
Mikel Arteta’s men have certainly made a good start on that end, having picked up three wins on the bounce in the league.
Their latest victories over Chelsea and Tottenham feel particularly significant, with Arteta’s side avoiding a late scare to pick up a 3-2 win at Spurs on Sunday.
Arteta has had the luxury of a near full-strength squad to pick from in recent weeks and the Spaniard could be boosted by the return of another key Arsenal star this weekend.
Arsenal are set to host the Cherries at the Emirates Stadium in the early kick-off on Saturday.
Bournemouth are likely to prove to be a stern test for Arteta’s men having picked up consecutive wins over Brighton and Wolves.
Jurrien Timber could make his long-awaited return from injury this Saturday, according to The Evening Standard.
The Dutchman has featured just once for Arsenal this season after picking up a serious knee injury on his debut against Nottingham Forest back in August.
But the ‘exceptional‘ defender is hoping to return to the Gunners squad on Saturday after narrowly missing out on Sunday’s North London Derby.
Having a fully fit squad at his disposal for the final three games would be huge for Arteta. Timber impressed before his positive start to life at Arsenal was cut short on the opening day of the season.
The 22-year-old has racked up minutes for the Under-21s over the past couple of weeks.
Indeed, he netted a stunning goal on his return to action in a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers U21s and admitted it felt ‘strange’ to get amongst the goals.
More recently, Timber got 70 minutes under his belt in a 2-0 win over Liverpool’s Under-21s on Sunday.
Arteta will be mindful of rushing the Dutchman back after such a significant injury to his knee. But having Timber back in the squad would be a huge boost for Arteta due to his ability to fill multiple roles across the backline.
