A top Portuguese paper has made a mind-blowing claim about the West Ham transfer budget for Ruben Amorim this summer.

West Ham fans will be waking up pinching themselves this morning after confirmation from top sources that the owners held talks with Ruben Amorim.

The coveted young Sporting boss has been loosely linked with West Ham in the past.

But Hammers supporters always felt like it was something of a pipedream.

Particularly as they have been conditioned to think the club cannot attract top names by pundits and journalists warning them to ‘be careful what you wish for’.

We reported earlier this month that West Ham’s dream looked in tatters after Liverpool ‘opened talks’ with Amorim.

There was a dizzying twist for West Ham yesterday, though, when respected source David Ornstein claimed West Ham were holding talks with the 39-year-old.

Frenzy as Amorim jets in for Hammers talks

Ornstein stated that the Hammers were serious about an ambitious move for the coveted young manager with David Moyes now expected to leave.

The Athletic journalist also claimed the West Ham job appealed to Amorim. Especially because Liverpool were now unlikely to make him their replacement for the departing Jurgen Klopp.

The news sent West Ham fans – many of whom have been craving a young, modern, attack-minded manager – into a frenzy.

Many felt it was all too good to be true.

But there was further excitement in West Ham circles when the likes of CNN Portugal reported Amorim had boarded a private jet to come to London for talks.

A Portuguese football journalist then confirmed Amorim was jetting in with his agent. He even posted a picture of him boarding a private plane alongside his flight details.

Now a top Portuguese paper has made a mind-blowing claim about the West Ham transfer budget for Amorim.

A Bola has confirmed the offer for Amorim is ‘concrete’ and states the Hammers are ‘putting all their chips’ on the young boss.

Not only that but West Ham have outlined to Amorim that they will be investing heavily to get the players to reshape the team as he wants it.

“West Ham’s interest is real and they will do everything they can to convince the Lions coach to move to London next season,” A Bola reports.

“Furthermore, from what A BOLA found, the numbers in the proposal that were presented to Ruben Amorim are considerably higher than those that Liverpool put on the table.

“What is certain is that, in addition to the very attractive financial conditions, West Ham has also given the Leo coach the freedom to design a squad to his liking, according to his ideas, which was, in fact, also one of Ruben Amorim’s conditions.

“The future, that is, the officialization of an agreement with the Hammers, which has not yet been acquired, would always happen at the end of the season.”

As if West Ham fans were not excited enough already.

Hiring a world-leading young manager AND lots of money to spend? Wow.

This comes after we reported on claims from a Hammers insider yesterday that the club is on course for record turnover to the tune of £368m which means they will have plenty of room to invest heavily amid new PSR rules.

Exciting times for West Ham.
