Salary and transfer fee: New details of Rangnick deal revealed

Following the cancellations of Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick appears to be the new top candidate to succeed Tuchel at FC Bayern. But before an official commitment can be made, a number of financial details still need to be clarified, which play a decisive role in the negotiation process.

A transfer of Austrian national team coach Ralf Rangnick to FC Bayern is no easy undertaking. The Salzburger Nachrichten reports that a transfer fee in the mid-single-digit million range could be payable to the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB). However, this information leaves room for manoeuvre as to whether it is closer to three or seven million euros. Given the history of FC Bayern, who once paid €25 million to Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann, the financial hurdle seems surmountable.

However, Rangnick is not only considering a transfer fee. According to the Austrian portal oe24, Rangnick’s salary in Munich could be „at least ten times higher than at the ÖFB“. This would mean that Rangnick could earn up to 15 million euros per year if he were to move. Such a sum would make him one of the best-paid coaches in international football.

Bayern wants to push ahead with squad reorganisation with new coach

Time is of the essence for FC Bayern as the current season draws to a close and strategic decisions for the coming season have to be made. FC Bayern wants to push ahead with the upcoming squad re organisation together with the new coach. For Rangnick himself, however, the European Championships with the Austrian national team are on the agenda first. This fact complicates a possible signing of the coach as well as the subsequent coordination of squad planning.

It was also recently reported that the 65-year-old could demand a great deal of sporting power in Munich. He would like to have the final say on player transfers, something that no coach in Munich has ever been granted. The final decision on Rangnick’s future in Munich depends on many factors that will have to be clarified in the coming weeks.
