Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United are all dreaming of making it to Wembley to play in the final of the Carabao Cup.

The first-leg of the semi-final of the competition is already done, and two teams have a clear advantage – Newcastle and Tottenham thanks to their wins over Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.

The Magpies have a two-goal cushion against the Gunners and they play the second leg at home. That gives them a big edge.

Tottenham, on the other hand, only have a 1-0 lead and they face the daunting task of protecting that scoreline at Anfield in the second leg.

Roy Keane predicts which two teams will make it to the Carabao Cup final

It’s really hard to predict which two teams will qualify for the final of the Carabao Cup.

Newcastle are arguably the biggest favourites because they have a two-goal advantage and play the second leg at home.

But, Arsenal are more than capable of turning things around in that tie, especially if they sign a prolific striker in the coming weeks.

In the other semi-final, most people will back Liverpool to get the job done despite being a goal down.

They are usually unstoppable at Anfield, but you never know which Tottenham will turn up – one that beat the Reds or one that conceded six to Arne Slot’s side.

Anything can happen in those two games, but Roy Keane believes he already knows which clubs will book their place at Wembley.

He said on the Stick to Football podcast: “Newcastle-Liverpool final. Liverpool will beat Spurs at home, surely.”

Liverpool and Newcastle United have only ever met once in a domestic cup final.

That was in the FA Cup all the way back in the 1974/75 season, when Bill Shankly was the manager of the Reds, while Joe Harvey was at the helm of the Toon.

Kevin Keegan scored a brace either side of Steve Heighway’s strike to give Liverpool a convincing 3-0 win. The two clubs have never faced each other in a cup final since.

If Keane’s prediction comes true, there could be a repeat, but this time in the Carabao Cup, a competition Newcastle United have never won before.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have won it 10 times, with the most recent one coming in the 2023/24 season under Jurgen Klopp.
