Ian Wright has pinpointed two games where Manchester City ‘might’ drop points, which could hand an advantage to Arsenal and Liverpool.

City went into last weekend trailing their Premier League title rivals but finished it two points clear and now they are firm favourites to lift the trophy for a record fourth time in a row.

Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday, before watching Arsenal and Liverpool suffer shock home defeats to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Citizens’ record of finishing a campaign in imperious form, combined with their favourable fixture run-in has put them on course to go for a ‘double treble’.

Wright was forced to concede that they and not his beloved Gunners were now the favourites, but is not yet throwing in the towel, telling Premier League Productions: ‘I hope there’s a twist in the tale.

‘Liverpool have to win all their games, Arsenal have to win all theirs. Man City, who we know have done that before, have just got to try and do what they do: win all their games.

‘And whereas they’re under pressure to do that, Man City have got that little bit of breathing space so even if they do slip up they can still get it back and we know that they can always retrieve.’

Many have highlighted City’s trip to Tottenham on 14 May as the one game that could be their undoing, but Wright believes there are actually two more fixtures that could prove tricky.

‘They might go to somewhere like Fulham, you don’t know what you’re going to get from them at the moment, and they might slip up there. Or Wolves, they might slip up at home,’ the former striker added.

‘But now you look at it, especially with a two point gap, and they’re more comfortable in themselves. They can say, “we can relax now” the pressure valve has been taken off a bit.

‘They have to lose two games. I can’t really see that.’

City travel to Craven Cottage on 11 May having beaten Fulham 5-1 back in September but Marco Silva’s side have recorded impressive wins over Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United this campaign.

Meanwhile Wolves stunned City 2-1 earlier in the season and will be looking for more of the same on 4 May, and Gary O’Neil’s side will play a pivotal role in the title race as they still have to play Arsenal and Liverpool.
