Cristiano Ronaldo's shocking demands during his time at Manchester United under interim manager Ralf Rangnick have been unveiled.

The five-time Ballon d'Or champion made a triumphant return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 after leaving Italian heavyweights Juventus. His arrival was greeted with immense enthusiasm by the United supporters.

At that point, United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, but he was dismissed from his managerial position less than four months later. Solskjaer was eventually succeeded by Rangnick, with whom Ronaldo had a strained relationship.

The former Real Madrid superstar's demands have now been revealed, shedding light on the complete breakdown of the player-manager relationship.

According to German publication BILD, Ronaldo informed Rangnick that he would participate in four out of five matches. Furthermore, the Portugal skipper insisted that for the one match he didn't play, he would watch from home instead of travelling with his teammates, reports the Mirror.

The ex-Real Madrid star outlasted Rangnick at United, staying at the club until November 2022. However, a disagreement with the next manager, Erik ten Hag, made his position at Old Trafford untenable.

His relationship with Ten Hag was irreparably damaged following a fiery interview with Piers Morgan. In a recent interview, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't hold back his criticism of Manchester United, including interim coach Rangnick.

The club's former No.7 questioned the decision to appoint the Austrian as both a sporting director and interim coach. "I don't know what's going on, but since Sir Alex Ferguson left, I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero," Ronaldo stated.

"For example, we have an interesting point that, how the club as Manchester United after they sack Ole, they bring in sports director Rangnick, which is something that nobody understands.

"This guy is not even a coach. A bigger club like Manchester United bringing in a sports director - it surprised not only me but all the world, you know? Of course, in my opinion.

"We have to be honest: if you're not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United? It's something that I should say that Manchester is not followed."

Despite the controversy, Ronaldo's performance under Rangnick remained commendable. With 12 goals in 22 appearances under the former Red Bull Leipzig boss, some fans argued that the forward was being unfairly targeted by certain sections of the media.
