Fabrizio Romano confirms: Florian Wirtz staying at Bayer Leverkusen for now

Real Madrid’s transfer target Florian Wirtz to remain at Bayer Leverkusen.

In a move that will undoubtedly disappoint Real Madrid fans, Fabrizio Romano, the renowned Italian transfer expert, has confirmed that Florian Wirtz will not be joining the Spanish giants this summer.

Wirtz, the 18-year-old Bayer Leverkusen sensation, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months, with his impressive performances earning him plaudits across Europe. However, it appears that the highly-rated midfielder will remain at Leverkusen for the foreseeable future.

Romano’s update comes as a blow to Real Madrid, who were reportedly keen on adding Wirtz to their squad as they look to build for the future. The Spanish club has a long history of signing young, talented players, and Wirtz was seen as fitting perfectly into that mold.

Despite Real Madrid’s interest, it seems that Wirtz is committed to Leverkusen for now. He has a contract with the club until 2025, and he is clearly enjoying his football in Germany. Leverkusen, too, will be delighted to keep hold of one of their brightest prospects.

While Real Madrid may have missed out on Wirtz this summer, there is still a chance that they could sign him in the future. He is still a very young player, and his stock is only going to rise in the coming years. However, for now, they will have to watch from afar as Wirtz continues to develop into one of the most exciting young players in Europe.
