Arsenal were without one of their star players in training today ahead of Sunday’s clash against Manchester United, despite playing against AFC Bournemouth.
The Gunners have been exceptionally lucky with injuries in the second-half of the season with Mikel Arteta having a fully fit squad since the turn of the year that has seen Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title.
Having virtually every player available has helped Arsenal massively in the majority of games in 2024, with the Gunners looking in good condition to win their last two matches of the season against Manchester United and Everton.
However, one of Arsenal’s star players was today absent from training.
As per Sky Sports News, Takehiro Tomiyasu was not spotted in training earlier today, with the Japanese international starting for Arsenal against Bournemouth on Saturday in what could be a major blow for the Gunners.

Lauded by Ben White as a ‘world-class’, Tomiyasu has excelled in the left-back position in recent weeks, with the defender becoming the latest to make the position his own after taking the throne from Jakub Kiwior.
With a historically difficult away day coming up next for Arsenal, Tomiyasu missing the game through injury would be a huge blow for the Gunners in their final two games of the season.
Indeed, the Japanese international has been as consistent as they come for Arsenal this campaign when fully fit, and losing Tomiyasu now could have the potential to derail the Gunners’ bid for the Premier League title.
Tomiyasu’s injury record is well-known already amongst Arsenal fans, with the defender one of those frustrating players where they’re fantastic when they play yet struggle massively to stay consistently fit.
And if Tomiyasu is out for Sunday’s trip up north to Manchester to face United, Arsenal could have a big problem on their hands, even with the Red Devils in truly woeful form having just lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace.
Old Trafford is one of Arsenal’s historic bogey grounds, and with the title on the line, losing any key player for the last two games could be disastrous, something Tomiyasu’s absence could provide.
