Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has sent a message to Reds fans after the confrontation between Mohamed Salah and Jürgen Klopp on the touchline at the London Stadium.

Salah and Klopp were seen arguing before the Egyptian was introduced against West Ham. Later, Salah fanned the flames even more, ironically, by telling journalists in the post-match mixed zone that if he spoke, there would be 'fire'.

Klopp attempted to play down the incident during his press conference. Speaking live on TNT Sports after the game, he said: "We have already spoken in the dressing room and for me, that’s done."

Now, Carragher has weighed in on the incident, with Liverpool fans split on social media. With a week until Liverpool is next in action —against Spurs at Anfield in the Premier League — the discussion is likely to rumble on.

"MO Salah & Jurgen Klopp are both @LFC legends. We don’t need to take sides!" he wrote on X/Twitter. "Salah is frustrated & angry with Jurgen that he’s not playing & at that moment didn’t want to fully embrace the boss, Jurgen understandably took exception.

"MO was daft with his comment in the moved zone but lets let them sort it out & enjoy the last few weeks together. They’ve been a massive help to each other in all that’s been achieved at the club!"

On Saturday, new footage emerged that appeared to show why the remarkable row had broken out on the sidelines. Salah appeared to reject a handshake with his manager before being subbed on, perhaps annoyed at only being introduced with 11 minutes on normal time today.

"The only reason a manager would be unhappy in this situation is the player took too long to be ready to come on," Carragher had posted on social media last night. But the full details of the situation are yet to emerge.

Liverpool.com says: This is far from the ideal situation for the Reds to find themselves in near the end of the Klopp era. Who saw an argument breaking out on the touchline coming?

Even if Salah gets back to scoring and playing well regularly in the final three matches of the campaign, the chatter around the Egyptian is not going to die down given his contract situation. With only a year left on his deal, this summer will be when his long-term future is decided. There is plenty still to be worked out in the bigger picture.
