Chris Sutton has now claimed that one Arsenal player could win the Premier League’s Player of the Season after his Chelsea display.

Mikel Arteta’s side was full of excellent performers, and Arsenal thoroughly deserved to win by such a convincing scoreline.

The fixture always looked winnable on paper, but London derbies can often throw up a surprise.

However, the gulf in quality between Arsenal and Chelsea just seems to be too big right now, especially when Nicolas Jackson refused to take advantage of any chances the away side created.

Arsenal have improved a ton defensively this campaign, and haven’t necessarily lost any of their attacking prowess.

And perhaps no player better embodies that all-encompassing approach than the Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard.

The midfielder, who is primarily known for his playmaking, has become Arsenal’s leader in the press, as well the dressing room.

Martin Odegaard now has so many facets to his game, and when speaking on the ‘It’s All Kicking Off!’ podcast, Chris Sutton felt as if the midfielder could now win a lofty individual award.

Chris Sutton thinks Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been incredibly consistent

Speaking on the podcast, Sutton felt as if Odegaard could anticipate situations well before anyone else in the league, and was a good candidate to be voted the Player of the Season.

He explained: “Arsenal have had a lot of consistent performers this season but he’s the guy who knits everything together.

“Not just knits it together, there’s a real guile and quality about his passing, he sees things quicker than most, virtually everybody in the Premier League.

“But then what a classy lefty he is, the weight of pass, he’s got a goal in him too. He’s had a phenomenal season and could be up there for Player of the Season.”

Bukayo Saka would be a well-deserving winner too

Of course, one of the Norwegian’s biggest competitors for the award has to be his teammate, Bukayo Saka.

Perhaps the accolade will ultimately be decided on who eventually lifts the Premier League, given Manchester City’s Rodri and Phil Foden would also be very deserving.

But if Arsenal did go on to make history under Arteta this season, it would be hard to argue with the £30m-Norwegian winning it.

Four games to go for Arsenal and four wins needed.

And it’ll just be a case of praying that Manchester City drop points, and perhaps Arsenal fans will be hoping for a favour from their old player Danny Welbeck this evening.

All that considered, one Arsenal player has now been subject to interest from Saudi Arabia ahead of the summer.
