This would be disastrous for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta could be banned from managing Arsenal on final day of the Premier League title race

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could be banned from managing his side's final Premier League fixture of the season against Everton.

The Premier League title race, which is being contested by Arsenal and Manchester City, looks set to go to the last day of the season.

City face Tottenham this weekend, before taking on Fulham in their game in hand, while Arsenal take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Gunners have previously won league titles at Old Trafford, and although they will be unable to do so on Sunday, a win at the iconic stadium would give them in a major boost in their pursuit of their first league crown since 2004.

It is often a bad-tempered affair between the two sides, but Arsenal boss Arteta will need to ensure that he steers well clear of any trouble during their latest meeting.

That is because the Spaniard has received five yellow cards in the Premier League this season (as per Football365). If he is given a sixth at Old Trafford, he will invoke an automatic one-match ban - meaning he will not be on the touchline for the potentially season-defining Everton clash.

No other Premier League manager has received more bookings on the touchline than Arteta this season, although one other club boss has also been given five yellows.

That accolade belongs to Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi, who could also be banned for his side's final game of the campaign at home to Manchester United.

The Seagulls do still have a small chance of qualifying for Europe, but would need to win all three of their final games and hope that Chelsea (seventh place) or United (eighth place) pick up no more than two points from their three games, as well as requiring a significant goal difference swing to overtake the Blues.
