Chelsea news as Mykhailo Mudryk gets a frosty reception from some at the Emirates Stadium in just a second visit to Arsenal since his infamous transfer saga
Arsenal fans clearly haven't forgotten about Mykhailo Mudryk's protracted transfer saga last season after the Chelsea forward was booed by sections of the home crowd on Tuesday night. Making his second appearance at the Emirates Stadium since opting to move to Stamford Bridge last January, he was the target of some audible jeers.
Playing on the left wing in front of Marc Cucurella, Mudryk was stationed on set-piece duty for Chelsea as they looked to respond to Leandro Trossard's early opener. Despite Mikel Arteta's men being in front, Arsenal supporters still took their chance to let Mudryk know how they really felt.
The 22-year-old was on the receiving end of some loud boos from those in the western corner of the North Bank. They were then made even happier after his in-swinging cross failed to connect with a teammate running in.
Mudryk has struggled since his move to Chelsea, only managing six goals in his 52 appearances prior to Tuesday's meeting. The Ukraine international did get one of those in the reverse fixture between the sides when his cross-cum-shot lofted over David Raya and into the far corner.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have had plenty of success with Trossard. He arrived instead of Mudryk in the January window last year and has continued to contribute plenty, including when given a chance from the start here.
