Peter Drury has been hailed by fans for his commentary of Ben White's second goal against Chelsea.

The Gunners thumped Mauricio Pochettino's side 5-0 at the Emirates on Tuesday to go three points clear at the top of the Premier League.

White scored twice and Kai Havertz also netted a brace after Leandro Trossard had put Arsenal on their way within four minutes.

White's second strike was slightly fortuitous as the defender attempted to cross on the volley, but his effort ended up looping over Blues goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic and into the far corner.

And Drury, who joined Sky Sports as a football commentator last summer, but also works for US station NBC Sports, saw his commentary for the goal go viral.

After describing the passage of play, Drury added: 'Arsenal so good, they're scoring by mistake.

'It's 5-0, all White on the night.'

And fans were quick to hail the commentator, who has gained cult status for several iconic lines over the years.

One said: 'Peter Drury is unbeatable man,' while another added: 'Peter Drury is the goat.'

A further supporter chimed in with 'brilliant', as another said: 'He's legendary, man!'

Reflecting on his slightly flukey second goal, White admitted that it was a cross and joked he couldn't believe it ended up in the back of the net.

'I think I was pretty shocked to be fair when it went in,' he said. 'It was an amazing ball by Martin, and I got a bit of luck.

'It’s just one of those, isn’t it? I tried to get it back across goal and it went in the net.'

White's two goals were somewhat of a collector's item, with the 26-year-old having scored just twice in 46 previous appearances this season before Tuesday's clash.

The Gunners return to action on Sunday when they take on Tottenham in a crunch north London derby.
