Arsenal could be handed a transfer boost in their reported pursuit of Victor Osimhen that could also hand a blow to Manchester City.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for a new striker ever since last summer's transfer window. Mikel Arteta currently has Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah who are capable of performing in the centre-forward role for Arsenal.

Osimhen is one striker who has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months. The Napoli star has also been rumoured to be a target for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window, with PSG have also been listed as a possible destination.

However, a report from Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Osimhen may not be a priority target for PSG. It's been stated that a Man City player is higher on their transfer shortlist this summer.

The report claims that Bernardo Silva is viewed by PSG as a player that the club has a "long-standing" interest in, and could act on that interest this summer. It's been stated that, despite the links to Osimhen, the midfield is viewed as a more essential area of the squad that needs reinforcements.

As well as Silva, Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes is also viewed as a potential target for PSG. Even though the departure of Kylian Mbappe is set to leave a void in the forward line, it has still been reported that the midfield is the area of the squad that PSG are prioritising the need for new signings.

Silva has been a vital player for Man City ever since he arrived from Monaco in 2017. As well as dealing a blow to their Premier League title rivals, it could also hand Arsenal a boost if PSG does decide to move for Silva.

If the rumours linking the Gunners with Osimhen are true, then PSG withdrawing from the race for his signature would therefore increase Arsenal's chances of getting a deal over the line. However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal are showing a genuine interest in trying to bring Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
