Toulouse – Montpellier (1-2): Player Ratings

Man of the Match – D.Bertaud (8): He was Montpellier’s savior tonight. He was outstanding in goal, making numerous saves in the first half from corners and open play. His command of the penalty area and quick reflexes gave Montpellier hope at halftime and helped secure the victory.

Toulouse 4-3-3

G.Restes (4): Can anyone blame him for Savanier’s goal? He could only watch as the ball nestled into the top corner. He had little to do in the first half and was not much busier in the second half. However, on Montpellier’s real second attacking chance, he failed to intervene.

M.Desler (5): The Danish defender had a quiet game defensively, facing little threat. However, going forward, he made some good runs down the right flank and provided several good passes and crosses for his teammates. He was substituted for W.Kamanzi.

Logan Costa (4.5): He was valuable on set pieces, using his heading ability to nearly score in the first half. However, he struggled in the second half when Montpellier raised their game, notably falling over on Montpellier’s second goal.

R.Nicolaisen (4): A fairly calm game for the leader of the defense. He had little to do against the opposition’s attackers. However, he received two yellow cards and was sent off late in the match.

M.Diarra (5): He effectively utilized the left flank’s space and successfully made runs behind the defense, contributing to the team’s attacking play.

C. Cásseres (7): A real game-changer on the field, he consistently raised the level of his team’s performance. Notably, he was pivotal in the first Toulouse goal, where he skillfully intercepted the ball on the left flank, setting up a brilliant assist for his teammate Dallinga. He was later substituted by I. Cissoko.

V. Sierro (6): A strong presence in midfield, he led his team effectively and dictated the pace of the game. His precise passing, especially on set pieces, added another dimension to his team’s play. He was later replaced by S. Spierings.

N. Schmidt (5.5): The German midfielder displayed good passing accuracy, effective shooting, and made impactful runs in midfield.

Z. Aboukhlal (4): He had a mixed first half, initially struggling to find his rhythm before improving his performance. He came close to giving Toulouse the lead just before halftime, but his goal was disallowed by VAR for a minor foul. A similar situation occurred early in the second half when his goal was ruled offside. He was substituted by S. Babicka.

T. Dallinga (7): A constant threat to the opposition’s defense, his off-the-ball movement was impressive as he created space for his teammates. He showcased excellent passing and shooting skills, with a notable header opportunity saved in the 20th minute and a successful goal later on to equalize for Toulouse. He continued to pose a danger in the second half.

Montpellier 5-2-3

D.Bertaud: See above.

I.Sylla (5): The left-back showed promising signs, especially in attack where he didn’t hesitate to push forward to create opportunities. He displayed the quality of his left foot with a precise cross that led to his teammate T.Savanier scoring.

C.Julien (5): A mixed performance for the French player. He had moments of brilliance, especially in set-piece situations. However, he struggled with his team’s build-up play, slowing down Montpellier’s already limited pace.

K.Kouyaté (7): Impressive defensively, intercepting passes well and making crucial tackles, such as in the 8th minute against a Toulouse through ball and a 78th-minute shot from Dallinga. He also contributed offensively, pushing up to the midfield and tracking back without hesitation. He was substituted for M.Sagnan.

S.Hefti (4.5): A below-par performance from the midfielder. He was largely ineffective and failed to make a significant impact on the game. While he managed to increase the tempo at times, he struggled to create clear opportunities.

J.Chotard (4.5): Like his teammate Leroy, he had a tough first half, struggling to contain the opposition’s attacks. However, he showed glimpses of creativity in attack, including setting up Montpellier’s goal in the first half.

B. Omeragic (5.5): He was the only bright spot in the Montpellier midfield, thanks to his excellent passing ability. His precise passes broke through the opponent’s defense multiple times, creating opportunities for his wingers and strikers.

L. Leroy (4.5): It was a tough match for the Marseille native. He seemed overwhelmed in the first half, with his passes not always finding their target. He also received a yellow card for some overly aggressive tackles. He was substituted by J. Ferri, who made an impact by dribbling past several Toulouse players before setting up Fayad for the second goal.

T. Savanier (5): As usual, the former Avignon player showcased his talent with a stunning strike that opened the scoring for Montpellier. His controlled volley with the outside of his foot was a thing of beauty, finding the top corner of the net. However, he also had a couple of moments of excessive aggression, receiving a yellow card in the first half for a mistimed tackle and a straight red card in the second half for an elbow.

A. Adams (4): A quiet game for the Nigerian player. Like his teammate from Jordan, he struggled to make an impact and was rarely involved offensively. He was substituted by K. Fayad, who secured the victory for his team late in the match.

M. Al-Tamari (3.5): A forgettable match for the Jordanian player. He was hardly noticeable and failed to pose a real threat to the opposing defense. He was substituted off in the 55th minute.
