After recovering from a collapsed lung, Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka is set to return to training at Roma today. Ndicka had been sidelined since suffering the pneumothorax during the match against Udinese on April 15th.
The 24-year-old underwent a series of thorough cardiopulmonary tests at the Villa Stuart FIFA medical center, which confirmed the absence of any heart abnormalities and the complete healing of the collapsed lung. Ndicka has been declared fit to resume sporting activities and could rejoin the squad at Trigoria as early as today.
Having missed only 7-8 days of training, Ndicka is not expected to require any special re-conditioning. However, manager Eusebio Di Rossi will exercise caution, according to Il Messaggero.
If Ndicka trains consistently, he could be included in the squad for the trip to Napoli, scheduled for April 28th. However, if the club decides to follow a more cautious approach, Ndicka’s return could be delayed until the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen on May 2nd.
