Arteta can repeat Arsenal reinvention trick with summer swoop for struggling Man Utd ace

Mikel Arteta should seriously consider launching a bid to bring one struggling Manchester United star to Arsenal this summer for one reason.

Mikel Arteta has made something of a habit of reviving players’ careers at Arsenal.

When Martin Odegaard first arrived at the Emirates Stadium on loan from Real Madrid, he had endured several years as something of football nomad, bouncing around from to club to club on a succession of loan deals whilst struggling to settle anywhere.

The Gunners then opted to sign the Norwegian playmaker on a permanent deal for £30 million, and he has gone from strength to strength ever since. Odegaard has been the most creative player in Europe this season and is arguably a candidate to win the Premier League Player of the Season award.

How Mikel Arteta has reinvented Kai Havertz at Arsenal

More recently, the Spanish coach has found a way to coax the best out of Kai Havertz. When Arsenal signed the German from Chelsea for £65 million in the recent summer transfer window, it was considered the worst piece of business done by any top flight English club in that window by agents surveyed by The Athletic

The 24-year-old arrived in North London clearly bereft of confidence and he struggled to impress early on. Havertz came in for plenty of criticism at the start of the season.

However, in recent months, he has been in blistering form. He is now the club’s first-choice striker and has scored a number of vital goals. He got on the scoresheet again against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby last time out.

One of the most vocal critics of Havertz has now admitted he was wrong about the player.

Arteta has been credited with reinventing Havertz after his “traumatic” time at Chelsea. The manager must now consider trying to do the same with Marcus Rashford.

Mikel Arteta could reinvigorate Marcus Rashford with Arsenal move

According to BBC Sport, Manchester United are now willing to “listen to offers” for the 26-year-old.

The England forward has endured a difficult campaign this time around. He has just 7 Premier League goals to his name, and has often looked sluggish and perhaps even somewhat half-hearted in his efforts for the Red Devils.

There can be no doubting Rashford’s talent. He bagged 30 goals across all competitions last season, and has been outstanding on numerous occasions in the past. Now, though, he looks like a player in desperate need of a fresh start in a new environment.

If Arsenal can strike a deal with Manchester United, Arteta will back himself to be able to restore Rashford’s form, in much the same manner he was able to reinvigorate both Odegaard and Havertz with spectacular results.
