Arteta ‘Really Appreciates’ La Liga Star Who Arsenal Could Sign For £42M This Summer

Arsenal are interested in signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, according to Caught Offside.

The website claims that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta “really appreciates” the Spaniard’s talent and he is keen to bring him to the Emirates when the transfer window reopens.

Guerra is a player in demand, with the likes of Manchester United, North London rivals Tottenham, Real Madrid and Barcelona also keen on securing his services.

However, a lot will depend on who can stump up the required funds to meet Valencia’s demands.

Guerra has a sizeable buyout fee

The midfielder is believed to have a €100m (£85m) release clause in his contract but Valencia are said to be willing to negotiate on the price to sell him.

Caught Offside report that the La Liga side could be prepared to offload Guerra if they receive a bid in the region of €50m (£42m) to €60m (£51m), which is a price that Arsenal should be able to match.

Arsenal are expected to revamp their midfield in the coming months

Up to three central midfielders could be sold or let go at the end of the season. Jorginho‘s contract with the Gunners expires at the end of June, and it is expected that the Italian international will depart on a free transfer.

Thomas Partey has just over a year remaining on his current deal and will be allowed to leave for the right price, while Mohamed Elneny is also set to be released, having barely featured for Arsenal this season. Arteta has spoken out to say that his team will be active in the transfer market this summer:

“We have a few ideas. That is what this team, this club, and our people are demanding – to keep moving forward in a ruthless way because we are not satisfied with where we are.”
