Dele Alli says he’s just realised something new about Cole Palmer after Chelsea vs Everton

Dele Alli has now noticed something about Cole Palmer he’d never spotted before Chelsea tore Everton apart tonight.

The Everton No.20 appeared on Monday Night Football for Sky Sports alongside Jamie Carragher and Dave Jones, where he analysed the Chelsea No.20’s remarkable opening 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge during the interval.

Somehow, the England international managed to score a second successive hat-trick at Stamford Bridge inside just 29 minutes, following a treble against Manchester United last time out in west London.

The £42.5m man then netted a fourth in the second half to put him level with Erling Haaland at the top of the Premier League scoring charts on 20 goals, which have come in just 28 appearances.

So, what has Dele Alli noticed about Cole Palmer? Let’s take a look…

What Dele Alli noticed about Cole Palmer during Chelsea 6-0 Everton

Well, the 28-year-old admitted that he’s never realised just how much of a striker’s instinct Palmer has before today.

Dele made the comment after watching the 21-year-old’s second goal against the Toffees, which saw him nod the ball beyond Jordan Pickford after following up an effort from Nicolas Jackson.

It was a real poacher’s effort, with Palmer the only player on his toes inside the penalty area as others stood and watched.

After watching the footage back, Dele said: “Yeah, it looks like it (a striker’s instinct). I haven’t noticed it before but chances like this one, he is the only one following up the play and that is like a striker’s goal. He is the only one who is anticipating the goalkeeper is going to make a mistake and following up.”

We don’t even think Manchester City realised Palmer’s striker’s instinct, or else the Citizens probably wouldn’t have sold him for just £42.5m – that is now starting to look like a truly embarrassing decision by Pep Guardiola’s side, to say the very least.

Special talent

There are very few players on the planet who can both create like Palmer, and also finish chances off as clinically as he does.

Chelsea have endured their fair share of misses in the market, namely the £63m deal for Marc Cucurella and the £97.5m move for Romelu Lukaku, although that £42.5m robbery of Manchester City is turning out to be so good a signing, it almost makes up for them.

If it was not already obvious, Todd Boehly has to build Chelsea around Palmer from this point on.

The boy from Wythenshawe is a truly unique talent capable of dragging the Blues to silverware, and Chelsea fans should be proud to have him at the Bridge.
