Chelsea's faltering striker Nicolas Jackson was left with his head in his hands on Tuesday evening as stopping his own header.
The Blues had travelled across London to clash with high-flying Arsenal - who were looking to go clear at the summit of the Premier League. It took just four minutes for the Gunners to take the lead, with Leandro Trossard turning the ball into the net.
However, Chelsea had the chance to level just before half-time, when Jackson, 22, rose highest in the box. Despite winning the header, Jackson managed to block his attempt with his own raised arm.
"WTF is Jackson doing there. Free header and must score but closes his eyes and puts his hand up," one fan fumed. While a second said: "Jackson is absolutely awful! If he’s not sprinting in a straight line, he doesn’t know what to do..."
"Header from six yards out and Jackson s**** himself and covers his face, says it all," a third posted. And another added: "Jackson bottling the header is a disgrace!"
Jackson was lucky to be on the pitch when he powered a header into his own fist. Mere minutes after the Gunners had taken the lead, Jackson produced a late challenge on Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Senegalese striker came barrelling in late on the Japanese star, catching him above the ankle after the ball had already gone.
