FA chiefs are desperate to avoid Kyle Walker becoming distracted at Euro 2024 after his former lover Lauryn Goodman hinted she will attempt to attend England's games
The FA are considering blocking Kyle Walker's ex-partner from attending England games at Euro 2024.
Walker has two children with Lauryn Goodman, as well as four with wife Annie Kilner. The Manchester City star is certain to be handed a place in the Three Lions squad for this summer's tournament, provided he is fit.
Walker has been a key member of Gareth Southgate's squad and is a veteran of the 2018 World Cup, Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. But concerns have been flagged over whether he may become distracted in Germany.
Families of the England squad will be welcomed to the games during the tournament. But FA chiefs are set to step in to prevent Goodman from attending any matches.
According to the Daily Mail, England chiefs are 'determined' to ensure Goodman is not a distraction. Reports last month told how Lauryn had vowed to be in Germany when Kyle plays, telling friends she was 'determined my children will get to see their daddy playing'.
The City star has denied that though, with FA chiefs ready to go to 'every possible length' to prevent Goodman accessing tickets. Officials will block her from joining the team of families by 'any means neccessary'.
They fear that if she attends, Walker could be thrown off his game. His wife Kilner and their children are expected to attend as part of the family group.
Goodman has been insisting she will get hold of tickets and travel along too, though this would cause 'massive problems'. Tickets will not be issued directly to her, but there is a fear that she could get hold of some.
But with Southgate and his squad needing to remain focused on games, any distractions will be 'clamped down on'. Kilner has already told Goodman to avoid attending the Euro this summer.
She told a friend, via The Sun: "Lauryn says she'll go to Germany and, whilst that's her right, I don't understand why she is making it such a public affair. Presumably she will post images of her children wearing England shirts with 'Daddy' on the back.
"It will inevitably create a drama and the noise surrounding it will be an unwelcome distraction for the team. England has the best chance of winning a major trophy since 1966 and they don’t need this. Kyle is focused on what he needs to do on the pitch and that has never wavered - but the gossip off it affects me and the children.
"We all need some breathing space. The spotlight feels relentless. I'm trying to draw a line under everything that has happened and do my best for my children."
