Arne Slot has already made his mind up on Mo Salah after Jurgen Klopp row

Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot has made his feelings extremely clear on Mohamed Salah’s future.

The Egyptian has already cemented his status as a Liverpool legend during Jurgen Klopp’s tenue at Anfield but his future has been plunged into doubt after a touchline row with his manager against West Ham on Saturday.

Salah and Klopp clashed after the forward was dropped to the bench for the game against the Hammers amid a poor spell of form after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 31-year-old has scored just five goals in his last 13 appearances, two of which have been penalties, and his fallout with Klopp has presented an issue for incoming manager Slot.

Liverpool and Feyenoord have agreed a compensation package for the Dutch manager and sorting out Salah’s future will be one of the first jobs on his list at Anfield.

Salah has just one year remaining on his contract on Merseyside, is the current club’s top earner and Saudi clubs are expected to be interested in his services.

Liverpool rejected an offer worth £100m from Al Ittihad during last summer’s transfer window but Slot is believed to be keen to keep Liverpool’s star man at the club according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

“The consideration for Slot will be more about how he is going to deal with Trent Alexander-Arnold position-wise, and Liverpool naturally want him to extend [his contract],” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“In addition, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah - will they stay or go with Jurgen Klopp? Salah in particular, was he to be sold to Saudi Arabia, would generate - in likelihood - enough money for Liverpool to move quite aggressively in the summer market.

“But of course, Slot and many in the Liverpool hierarchy would also be extremely keen on keeping Salah."

Klopp’s exit is nearing with only two home games remaining and Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes his impending departure could help fix the Salah situation.

He told Sky Sports: “It's unpleasant when you see [that between] an amazing manager and an amazing player.

“I had that at Manchester United a few times. There's only one winner, but the problem is that the manager is leaving which helps Salah a little bit.

“I think there might be a bit of a problem if it were to carry on for the rest of the season. Two massive personalities and characters.”
