Chelsea's next five Premier League fixtures compared to Tottenham, Man United and Newcastle

Latest Chelsea news following the heavy defeat against Arsenal amid their dwindling European qualification hopes

Chelsea were beaten comfortably by Arsenal on Tuesday night

Chelsea suffered a damaging defeat at the hands of Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring, with Ben White and Kai Havertz each netting braces in a dominant display that boosted their Premier League title pursuit and therefore significantly dented the Blues' slim European hopes.

The visitors had their chances, with Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez going close after Trossard had given Arsenal an early lead. However, in the second half, Arsenal scored three goals in 20 minutes, with former Chelsea man Havertz grabbing a brace after White turned home a scrappy short corner, with the right-back getting his second of the evening just a few minutes later.

Following the embarrassing loss, Chelsea's goal difference took a hit as they remained on 47 points, three off both Manchester United and Newcastle. Despite that, football.london has taken a look at Chelsea's upcoming fixtures compared to their rivals in the chase for European spots.

Aston Villa (A) – Premier League – April 27

Another challenging away trip awaits Chelsea at the end of April as they take on Aston Villa. Like the Blues, Unai Emery's side are the favourites to grab fourthplace, but Pochettino's side could dent their hopes.

Chelsea have already won at Villa Park this season in FA Cup action and will need to repeat that achievement if playing in Europe next season is their aim.

Tottenham (H) - Premier League - May 2

A London derby is on the cards for Chelsea against Tottenham in early May. A 4-1 victory arrived in the reverse fixture, where Spurs ended the clash with nine players.

Stamford Bridge has hosted numerous thrilling games this season, and when Tottenham come to town, it is very rare that the action is not exciting.

West Ham (H) - Premier League - May 5

With their Europa League journey over, West Ham's full focus will be on finishing in the top seven and a positive result against Chelsea will go some way to doing that.

David Moyes, under pressure despite winning the Europa Conference League last season, will be aiming to get fans back onside and a London derby win could certainly help with that.

Nottingham Forest (A) - Premier League - May 11

Following two home games, Chelsea are back on their travels when they face Nottingham Forest. Given their position in the table, Forest will likely still be in danger of being relegated and will therefore be fighting for every point possible.

The two teams met earlier in the season, where Forest came out on top and as such, the Blues will be hoping to avoid having a league double over them at the City Ground.

Brighton (A) - Premier League - May 15

In recent years, Chelsea have struggled against Brighton, but that could change next month. However, the reverse fixture was won by the Blues and as Brighton have won just once in their last seven league games, it will be a great chance to do the double.
Roberto De Zerbi's side are currently three points off Chelsea and will therefore still be eyeing a European qualification spot.
