Arsenal’s recent form has been underwhelming it must be said.
Three games without a win, elimination from the Champions League and lost ground in the Champions League, the wheels aren’t coming off at the Emirates, but the tread may need replacing soon.
Arsenal have been off the boil as of late, and speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley has highlighted a few issues within the team, pointing the finger at one player in particular.
Burley spoke about Arsenal’s recent issues, and he says that Gabriel Jesus has been terrible as of late, claiming that he’s not doing anything.
“There are a couple of players, Tomiyasu tonight. They had an extra midfielder in there, Havertz is back in a position where he feels more comfortable and he’s actually played pretty well recently. They had a couple of players coming on who are off form like Gabriel Jesus, he’s not doing anything, Saka had a quiet one, Arsenal were poor,” Burley said.
When Gabriel Jesus first arrived at Arsenal he was electric.
The striker was absolutely fantastic, he was linking up play brilliantly, occupying defenders and even scoring goals.
However, this season, it feels as though he’s been a beat behind the Arsenal attack all season.
He’s no longer got that synergy with the Gunners’ other forwards, his goalscoring touch has deserted him, and he’s playing without any sort of confidence at the moment.
At his best, Jesus is a top player who can be a real weapon for any team in the Premier League, but, at the moment, he’s proving to be incredibly ineffective and that’s something that Mikel Arteta needs to address soon if Arsenal are going to win the title this season.
