Mauricio Pochettino should have been a very happy man after Chelsea thumped relegation-threatened Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. But the victory was overshadowed by one moment during the match.

Just after the hour mark, three Chelsea players were involved in a spat on the field as they all wanted to take the penalty that was given by Paul Tierney after Cole Palmer was felled by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Palmer won the day, given he is Chelsea's designated penalty taker, but not before Noni Madueke had argued with Nicolas Jackson about taking it. Captain Conor Gallagher then had to get involved with Palmer to give the ball to the now joint top scorer in the Premier League.

Pochettino's press conference after the match was dominated by questions about that penalty incident. Will there be any punishment? Did they apologise? Will it impact this weekend?

Pochettino wanted to talk about a brilliant win and Cole Palmer's heroics. Instead, his topsy-turvy first season in charge of Chelsea Football Club continues.

The Argentine called a halt to the press conference and walked out, but he wanted to get his point across before he left the room.

"See you later. All day we only talk about one thing," he said as he walked out. "You all, one thing, one in press conference (relating to one subject coming up)."

And one journalist in the room would not let it go like that. "You stopped the press conference," was shouted out. "We didn't stop the press conference," suggesting more, different questions could have been asked had it gone on.

"Every question was in this way," came Pochettino's retort. And the journalist continued: "(Swear word) management of a press conference."

Pochettino is probably thinking the end of the season cannot come soon enough, although there is the small matter of an FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City to look forward to this weekend.
