Chelsea players could revolt against Todd Boehly if he sacks Mauricio Pochettino this summer, despite the club’s horrific form. That is according to new reports emerging amid uncertainty over what will happen at the club this summer. Boehly has already burned through two permanent managers during his time as Chelsea co-owner, with Pochettino’s future also rumoured to be at risk.

Pochettino suffered one of the most embarrassing defeats of his career on Tuesday night when title-chasing Arsenal stuck five past the sorry Blues. Champions League-winning goalscorer Kai Havertz netted twice, as Chelsea slumped to their 11th defeat of the Premier League campaign.

However, even though Chelsea are on course for another season out of Europe, the squad are said to be fully behind Pochettino. That’s according to a report from The Sun, which claims the Chelsea players wouldn’t react well to Boehly sacking Pochettino, as they believe he is the right man to lead the team forward.

The report goes on to say that despite results having been below their lofty standards, a ‘sense of unity’ is beginning to grow in the Chelsea dressing room. Pochettino - who boasts a 46 per cent winning rate - was appointed in the summer, with Boehly having previously fired Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

But should the results continue this season - starting with a tricky test against Champions League-chasing Aston Villa on Saturday - a show of faith in Pochettino will come as no consolation to the Chelsea fans. And following outspoken criticism from the Blues faithful, midfielder Conor Gallagher insisted the Chelsea players were putting the effort in.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “We definitely are putting the effort in. I know how much it means to all the boys. I know it's been said many times; it's a very young squad with not much experience as a team in the Premier League. As you’ve seen this season, we’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs as well. We’re still improving and working together as a team to get to that next level.

“Today it was one of those days where we were just nowhere near it. We need to kind of dust ourselves off but also look at that the performance and where we can improve, and all the mistakes we made, where we can put it right and just get ready for the next one.”
