Coventry City players were said to be stunned by the poor performance of one of Manchester United's stars at Wembley on Sunday.

United surrendered a 3-0 lead against the Championship outfit in a pulsating FA Cup semi-final.

Coventry struck three times in the last 20 minutes, with Haji Wright rolling in a last-gasp penalty take it to extra time.

The Sky Blues thought they won it with the last kick when Victor Torp popped up, only for the goal to be chalked off for offside.

United avoid an embarrassing exit on penalties, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring the winning spot-kick to set up a second Manchester derby final.

But a new report from the Manchester Evening News claims that the Coventry players were "startled" by how bad Marcus Rashford was.

Rashford lined up on the left flank but was totally ineffective and ended up being booed off by a section of his own supporters when replaced by Amad Diallo in the 97th minute.

He was then seen limping walking through the mixed zone and is a doubt for the game against Sheffield United.

But it's claimed that Coventry players couldn't believe how Rashford was barely involved.

Samuel Luckhurst writes that players thought the 26 year-old "was easily marginalised during the second half" and he "could have got more involved in the game".

In addition, one player is believed to have "sympathised" with United fans, feeling that Rashford could have had a much greater impact on the game.

Rashford has had a disappointing season, with just eight goals and five assists in all competitions after the dizzying heights of last season's 30-goal campaign.

Not for the first time, former United skipper Roy Keane was critical of Rashford and his body language.

Speaking on ITV, he said: "He's got to affect the game, he's done it many times before. We are sick of repeating ourselves on Marcus, he's got to turn up.

"He's dropped off, his standards this year we talk about off the pitch stuff... his body language, his work rate all of that.

"He's got the talent to affect the game today, if he turns up and starts running at people he will have a big impact but if he's shrugging his shoulders and waving his arms then that's not good enough either. He's done that far too many times this season."
