Manchester United will be hoping to ruin Arsenal’s Premier League title chances on Sunday at Old Trafford.

It has been a pretty abject season for Erik ten Hag’s side and there is every chance it could result in a finish outside of the European places.

On paper, Manchester United v Arsenal will always be a heavyweight showdown and fans will forever reminisce about the good old days between Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

Even though one side of that rivalry is the shadow of themselves today, Cesc Fabregas stated that he still considers it a ‘big game’, as he told Planet Football

By the time Arsenal kick off on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City would have already played Fulham, and if they win, then they go top of the table.

That just puts extra pressure on the Gunners and it could prove to also aid an out-of-sorts Manchester United team.

But regardless of whatever situation Mikel Arteta’s men find themselves in, Fabregas made it clear that they will still win and ‘comfortably’.

Manchester United go into this match after losing 4-0 to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

So, you don’t blame Fabregas for being so confident, but he did admit that he will refuse to say that it will be an ‘easy’ game for his former side because of the history of their old rivals.

Manchester United v Arsenal at Old Trafford

On whether the upcoming Man United-Arsenal game can have the same intensity as the ones from the Sir Alex-Wenger era: “Well, a derby is a derby,” responded Fabregas

“I consider it a big game. Arsenal and Man United. They have always been special games. It’s true that Man United, at the moment, they aren’t at the level that they were in the past. We can all agree with that. I see Arsenal too strong for them, at the moment. I do think Arsenal play my memory. They have confidence. They believe. They have the experience. They have grown over the last year and have improved.

“So, I do think Arsenal will win that game comfortably. I will not say easy because Man United is Man United. The history, at the end of the day. The badge on the chest. We need to respect that. Old Trafford is Old Trafford. But I consider Arsenal too strong, at the moment.”

Arsenal’s record at Old Trafford

This is where things could get pretty interesting. Arsenal’s record in Manchester is pretty poor, in fact, it’s abject.

That’s what will give Man United hope that they can cause an upset and ruin the London club’s title challenge.

In their last 16 meetings at Old Trafford, dating back to the 2007/08 season, Arsenal have only picked up one win and five draws.

They have also lost their last two matches away from home in this fixture. Yes, this is a much-improved Arsenal team, but there is a reason why football is a funny old game.
