Aston Villa fans have called for paramedic Heidi Elliott to be given a lifetime season ticket after she saved a fan who suffered a cardiac arrest during their game against Olympiacos on Thursday.

The incident occurred at half-time when a team medics were quickly sent to the stricken fan who had collapsed - and supporters were evacuated from the lower tier of the Holte End at Villa Park.

Shortly after, a photo emerged on social media of a woman - later named as Elliott - running to the scene. Fans pointed out that she saved the man's life and asked for help finding out her name.

A caption on the imagine read: "This is the woman who delivered potentially life saving CPR in L2 tonight. Find her. @AVFC get her a free season ticket for life."

Elliott is a Villa fan who works for the East Midlands Ambulance Service as a paramedic and had been attending the game. Supporters then led more tributes to the "amazing" Elliott and labelled her as a "hero".

A fan on X, who claimed to be the father of the man who had the cardiac arrest, said: "My son that collapsed, please @AVFCOfficial help me find her, she saved my boys life."

Another supporter, who said he was the brother of the fan who collapsed, added: "@AVFC twitter do ur thing and help me find the woman that saved my brother’s life, give her the praise she deserves."

A further user said the paramedic was his daughter. "That was my daughter. She's a paramedic over in Leicester," he revealed. "We were four rows above them when it happened. I turned around to find her jumping over the seats to get to him."

"I cannot stress enough the importance of learning CPR," One fan said as they heaped to the praise of Elliott. "Please Villa, give this lady the recognition she deserves - and the season ticket. Whoever you are, you're a hero."

After being identified, Elliott spoke to BBC WM radio about the incident on Friday morning. "I'm okay, a bit overwhelmed but all good," she said. "I'm a season ticket holder with my dad. We did the usual, went for dinner and then made our way to the ground and watched the first half. Villa scored late on in the first half.

"It seemed like any other game up until half-time really. About four or five rows in front of us there was a commotion, with a large group of people waving trying to get the attention of stewards. That caught my eye and when I looked over I saw the young lad on the floor, bless him.

"He didn’t look well and I could tell that something was wrong. I looked where the paramedics where but we didn’t have their attention yet. That’s why I thought I can’t just stand there at that point and I had to go down and help."

As the incident unfolded, a black screen was held up by the emergency services as they tried to protect the individual from thousands inside the stadium looking in. The supporter was later carried to an ambulance, where he was taken to hospital as emotional fans watched the tragic scenes unfold.

While this was occurring, players tried to keep warm by kicking the ball inside the tunnel as the second-half was momentarily delayed by a matter of minutes. Once the game got underway - with Olympiacos leading 2-1 at half-time - Villa levelled through Moussa Diaby.

However, the Greek side responded to score two quick-fire goals and win 4-2 and take control of the Europa Conference League semi-final going into the second-leg in Athens next Thursday.
