Bruno Guimaraes has said that Manchester City have a player who is better than Luka Modric.

Since joining Newcastle United back in the 2022 January transfer window, the midfielder has faced off against City on seven occasions, losing six, drawing and winning one.

Now though, the Brazilian has shared his thoughts on one particular City player and how he compares with one of the top midfielders in Europe.

In a recent video shared on the Fubo YouTube channel, Guimaraes was asked to pick who he prefers out of Modric and Kevin De Bruyne in a quickfire this-or-that challenge.

In response, the Newcastle star picked De Bruyne.

The Croatian spent four years at Tottenham Hotspur before joining Real Madrid in 2012.

Since then, the 38-year-old has made 526 appearances for the Spanish club across all competitions, scoring 39 goals, delivering 84 assists and winning numerous titles including five Champions Leagues.

In terms of De Bruyne, he’s won five Premier League titles with the Blues and one Champions League.

Prior to today’s league match against Brighton & Hove Albion, the 32-year-old has scored 101 goals and supplied 166 assists in 375 games.

Could Bruno Guimaraes be Kevin De Bruyne’s teammate next season?

Even though Modric has had a very successful spell with Real and even won the Ballon d’Or back in 2018, the fact that the Newcastle star picked De Bruyne over him shows just how much he admires the Belgian.

Bearing in mind how Guimaraes has been linked with a move to City in recent days, perhaps the prospect of him playing alongside De Bruyne could become reality in the future.

Moving forward, if the Belgian can continue playing by the time he’s Modric’s age, he could well go on to win even more trophies and individual awards before he eventually retires.
