It is very clear where the majority of Newcastle United’s transfer budget should go this summer.

The Magpies need to sign a couple of centre-backs due to injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, but they could be in luck. Newcastle are trying to sign Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo, both of which are going to be available on free transfers.

That could be great for Newcastle United, as it would allow them to commit most of their resources elsewhere.

A goalkeeper is also on the club’s transfer agenda with Loris Karius set to leave and Martin Dubravka possibly following him, but the most important signing for Newcastle will be who they bring in to play on the right of attack.

Eddie Howe wants a versatile forward, but their primary position must be on the right wing. We need someone who can complete our front three alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, and Toon officials may have found exactly that.

Newcastle interested in signing Crystal Palace superstar

Newcastle United have been linked with Wolves’ Pedro Neto, while Nico Williams is a long term target. They are both on the Magpies’ radar, according to the Daily Mail, as is another very exciting talent.

The Daily Mail report that Newcastle are interested in signing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise this summer.

The 22-year-old is also attracting admiring glances from Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, as he continues to dazzle at Selhurst Park.

Olise, who is now valued at £60million, has been incredibly impressive since his £8million arrival from Reading, and is another example of Dougie Freedman’s fantastic recruitment – and he is one of the candidates to be Newcastle’s new sporting director.

For Olise, a move away from Crystal Palace could be on the horizon at the end of the season. He is playing brilliantly for the Eagles, while the Daily Mail state that he has a release clause in his contract that can be activated this summer.

One big concern surrounding Michael Olise

Olise has been exceptional this season, boasting nine goals and four assists in 17 Premier League appearances.

But with the season drawing to a close, you will notice that the amount of games played is rather small. That is because Olise has been plagued with a hamstring problem that has limited his minutes.

He has been incredibly impactful when fit, but his injury record must be concerning for a Newcastle United side that have had plenty of fitness problems of their own this season.

Olise did Newcastle United a favour on Monday night

He is immensely talented when available, and he proved that on Monday night – and did Newcastle a favour in the process.

Olise scored Crystal Palace’s first and fourth goals as they beat Manchester United 4-0, and that result leaves the Magpies in pole position to finish sixth in the Premier League this season. That would mean European football at St James’ Park next year, which could make a move to Tyneside more appealing for a player like Olise.

And he certainly deserves the chance to perform on that stage. As Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Olise is a superstar who could play for any team in the Premier League.

That includes Newcastle, who must splash out on a player of Olise’s calibre as they go in search of another attacker this summer.
