Liverpool just got double blow thanks to Arsenal and Man City as fixture schedule confirmed

Liverpool has just six Premier League fixtures left under Jürgen Klopp. The Reds now know when each of those games will be played thanks to Arsenal and Man City.

Liverpool now knows when it will play each remaining fixture until the end of the season after both Arsenal and Manchester City were knocked out of the Champions League. Neither Mikel Arteta nor Pep Guardiola's sides progressed to the semi-finals of UEFA's premiere competition after losing to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively.

Jürgen Klopp's side is hoping to come back from three goals down to make the Europa League semi-finals later today. West Ham United is 2-0 down against Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen and only Aston Villa of the English teams is likely to get into the final four of a European competition, with Unai Emery's men 2-1 up against Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the Conference League.

Had Arsenal beaten Bayern Munich, the Gunners would have needed to take the early Saturday kick-off on the weekend when they face Spurs and Liverpool travels to West Ham. That would have meant West Ham vs Liverpool moving to Sunday but those games will now stay where they are as a result of Arsenal's elimination.

That means Liverpool must play three times in the space of seven days, all away from home. After playing Fulham on Sunday, the Reds are away at Everton on Wednesday and then in the early slot on Saturday at West Ham. That looks like an incredibly intense run of games and Liverpool needs to win every league match left to have any chance of winning the title.

After that, Liverpool vs Tottenham is on Sunday, May 5 and the Reds trip to Aston Villa is on Monday, May 13. Every team plays at the same time on the final day of the season, which is Sunday, May 19. None of the league matches will now be moved with the schedule set in stone from here.

If Liverpool does progress in the Europa League despite being 3-0 down at half-time in the tie, the two-legged semi-final will be on Thursdays May 2 and May 9. No Premier League fixtures will be impacted by those matches, though it will take an incredible turnaround for Klopp to need to pencil in the two extra commitments.

Liverpool.com says: It is a benefit to some extent that Liverpool now knows when it will be playing but having the West Ham match in the lunchtime slot is far from ideal. Not having Arsenal take on Manchester City in a mammoth Champions League semi-final is not great either, with both of those sides having one less thing to distract them in the Premier League title race.

All in all, yesterday's results are a double blow for the Reds, though they just have to get back to winning ways and hope for the best. It is a disadvantage that Arsenal and Manchester City are out of European competition, and that the West Ham game isn't being moved, but there is nothing that Liverpool can do about either of those things.
