Despite all the disappointment Arsenal suffered last night, Bukayo Saka has been able to make Champions League history this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side unfortunately bowed out of the competition yesterday evening, having lost by the smallest of margins against Bayern Munich.

Despite starting the game with a degree of control, Arsenal weren’t ultimately able to impose themselves offensively on the German side.

Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer were so effective in the middle over both legs, and last night it felt as if Arsenal had no room to breathe.

Harry Kane revealed that was Thomas Tuchel’s plan at half-time, one that worked so effectively.

And whilst the likes of Martin Odegaard still enjoyed brief moments of joy, Bukayo Saka was pretty much frustrated throughout.

The Hale End graduate faced a tough task on the right, effectively being marked by two defenders in Noussair Mazraoui and Raphael Guerreiro.

And despite not really being able to affect the game last night, Bukayo Saka has still made Champions League history this season.

The statistic was shared by beIN SPORTS on X shortly after the defeat last night, perhaps providing a reason for Arsenal fans to still be proud.

And having scored four goals and provided four assists in his nine Champions League appearances in the competition, Bukayo Saka’s eight goal involvements made English history in a debut season.

Of course, the Arsenal winger would have definitely rather have made a legacy with his team collectively.

But Mikel Arteta’s side can only lift the Premier League trophy to avoid another season without anything to show for all their excellent progress.

Thomas Tuchel earlier said that Arsenal are only lacking experience now, but that can only be an excuse for so long.

Arteta knows that his team need to deliver, and it’ll be interesting to see if these defeats have any effect on the club’s transfer plans this summer.
