Theo Walcott has named who he thinks has been the best player for Arsenal this season.

Arsenal may have failed to win against Aston Villa in the Premier League this past weekend and could only draw with Bayern Munich last week, but there is no doubt that the Gunners are having a very good season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are still only two points behind leaders Manchester City and could still go past Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and book their place in the last four.

A number of Arsenal players are doing well this season, including Kai Havertz, William Saliba and Declan Rice.

Theo Walcott has named who he thinks has been the best player for Arsenal this season. The former Gunners forward has gone with 22-year-old England international winger Bukayo Saka.

Walcott said on talkSPORT when asked who Arsenal’s best player has been this season: “I am going to be quite biased and lean towards forwards because I am a forward player. I mean, the defence has been absolutely solid.

“Saliba at the back, he was greatly missed for a period of time last year, particularly towards the end of the season.

“I mean, I scored against Arsenal when playing for Southampton in the 3-3. A few Arsenal fans were not happy about that. I had to do my job. Saliba wasn’t playing that day.

“So, I have to go with Saka. I think Bukayo has, his goal tally, his goal contributions, the way he plays, I think, for me, he has always been impressive. So, my kids absolutely love him like me.”

Bukayo Saka’s consistency is remarkable

Bukayo Saka is one of the best young players around. He is just 22, but sometimes it feels as though he has been playing football at the top level for several years.

Saka has established himself as one of the best and most important players for Arsenal and England and is one of the first names on the teamsheet when he is fit and available.

What is remarkable about the 22-year-old is that he is very consistent. Very rarely does Saka have a dip in form.

Saka has scored 18 goals and given 13 assists in 41 matches in all competitions for Arsenal this season.

The winger scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 competitive appearances last season, while in 2021-22, Saka scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 43 matches in all competitions.
