A professional lip reader claims to have worked out what Mohamed Salah said to Jurgen Klopp in their furious touchline row during Liverpool's 2-2 draw at West Ham.

The pair were seen having a tense exchange during the second half, as Salah was preparing to enter the pitch as a late substitute.

The winger had to be held back by Darwin Nunez at one stage, with tempers appearing to be running high.

And footage at the full-time whistle showed Salah appearing to ignore Klopp, before giving a short applause to the travelling Liverpool fans and exiting down the tunnel.

After the match, Klopp said that the incident was 'done' having spoken to Salah in the dressing room - and refused to elaborate on what happened.

The Egyptian struck a similar tone, but was even more cryptic when he told reporters in the mixed zone: "If I speak, there will be fire."

Professional lip reader John Cassidy has studied the footage of Klopp and Salah's row for SPORTbible, and came to the following conclusion about what was said between the pair: "When Klopp tried to shake hands with Salah, Salah just feebly slapped Klopp's hand.

"Salah said, 'There's nothing I can do about that, nothing.'

"Klopp's reply was obscured, indicating Salah wasn't ready as quickly as Klopp liked it to be. Klopp walked over and irritated Salah by saying something to him.

"Salah then said, 'I will, I will get a red card, after seven years, after seven years' service, after seven years!' He then got ushered away by Nunez."

After the incident, odds were slashed on the 31-year-old leaving Anfield this summer amid transfer interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Salah will be in the final 12 months of his contract by the time next season begins, but The Athletic's David Ornstein reports that the Reds are planning for him to remain at the club for at least another campaign.
