Arsenal have been incredible from set-pieces this season.

The Gunners have scored more set-play goals than any other side this season, and they’re on course for a Premier League record tally this term.

Arsenal’s set-play dominance has been incredible to watch, and it’s down to a mixture of hard-work on the training ground and aerially dominant players.

Perhaps Arsenal’s biggest threat from set-pieces is Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian is always getting on the end of corners and free-kicks, and, by the sounds of it, he’s also dynamite in training.

Indeed, speaking to The Athletic, Declan Rice has shared just how lethal Gabriel is in training, claiming that he scores around three goals a day from set-pieces in training sessions.

Gabriel Magalhaes scores for fun

Rice spoke about the £27m man’s knack of getting goals.

“If you watched him (Gabriel) train, he scores about three of them a day,” Rice said

“He’s so aggressive. We play against the kids, he doesn’t care. It’s like he’s playing in a Premier League match. He scores goals for fun in training. No wonder he does it in games.”

Arsenal’s added weapon

There’s been so much chat about Arsenal needing a new centre-forward this season, but the reality is that if they can score from set-pieces like this, they don’t really need a striker.

Arsenal have 16 goals from set plays this season, and a few more that don’t count towards the stats such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal at the weekend.

16 goals is a tally that any Premier League striker would be happy with, and this additional weapon has played a huge part in Arsenal’s rise to the top of the table this term.

Arsenal’s set-pieces have been one of the stories of the season, and it’s something that the Gunners have benefitted from massively.
