MLS expert Matt Doyle has now teased who Inter Miami could go and sign this summer to help bolster their roster.
The Herons have been nothing short of sensational in MLS this season, with Lionel Messi playing his best soccer yet at Inter Miami with Luis Suarez adjusting to his new club with ease alongside his former FC Barcelona teammates.
With the Florida franchise going big on the likes of Julian Gressel, Matias Rojas and Federico Redondo this year, Inter Miami’s roster is one of the deepest and best MLS has ever seen, with more arrivals expected in the summer.
And Doyle has now predicted who Inter Miami could target when the window opens in July.
Speaking on MLS’s Extratime, the pundit tipped the Herons to move for an experienced central defender, with Inter Miami somewhat lacking in this position despite having the likes of Nicolas Freire and Tomas Aviles.
Already linked with Spanish legend Sergio Ramos, there’s a real chance that Inter Miami could splash the cash again this summer for a big-name signing, and bringing in a center-back would be a wise move from Tata Martino’s team.
Doyle said: “By adding Matias Rojas and seeing what Diego Gomez can do out on the left-wing and having Redondo, when the trade window opens in July, they could do some work within the league.
“They can create more cap space, they can create more GAM, they can go out and find another veteran center-back, which is really the one thing they need.”
Inter Miami are no strangers to being caught overstepping the mark when it comes to breaching MLS spending rules, which is what will make this summer a difficult operation for the Herons.
Whilst rule changes this summer will make things easier for Inter Miami, the Florida franchise still need to treat lightly when it comes to making a big signing given who has been linked in recent weeks.
Indeed, Inter Miami will be an appealing club for many high-profile players, and it’s up to Martino and his transfer team to find the right signing this summer to give the Herons the extra steel they need at the back.
